Sunday 6th July, chateau circuit

Slept in because it was raining and "face timed" Catriona's Mum for her birthday. It was afternoon tea time and we we're able to speak with Jenni, Jacqueline, John, Michael, Megan, Ibrahim and Amadou as well.
We eventually set off in the rain after breakfast. It didn't take long to get cold and wet on the well signposted route toward Villesavin chateau about 20km from the campsite. At around the 15km mark we stopped in a small town at a brasserie for a cup of coffee/hot chocolate to warm up. David went over the road to the Patisserie and bought a citron tart.
We reluctantly headed off again and arrived at Villesavin where we were only planning to take a photo from outside to find we had to pay to enter the grounds to be able to view it. We decided it was not worth the 10€ each,so we set off for Cheverny. The rain backed off and we were enjoying the quiet country roads passing vineyards. We found there was a bread festival in the town of Cheverny "Fete de pain" we stopped to have a look and Catriona even put a vote in for the best looking bread which were in many different designs. The rain came bucketing down while we were there so we headed off for the chateau. The Chateau was magnificent and is still occupied by members of the family who have owned it for over 600 years. We dried off while touring the inside of the chateau. Got wet again while looking around the gardens.
We decided to ride past 3 other chateau's on our way back to the campground but they were not visible from the road. The weather cleared back to hot sunny conditions at around 6pm enabling us to wash and hopefully dry our clothes. At present it is hot and sunny at 8:20pm! Total km for the day 58km.
