Tuesday 1st July, Chateau Du Marais to Saint Satur

What a start to the morning! We woke at 6:00am and packed ready for the first full days ride. Took a few more pictures of the Chateau. See Catriona in the bedroom window.
Then we headed down to a magnificent breakfast with a Dutch couple that we may meet along the trail as they were catching a train to Tours and cycling back in our direction.
Beautiful sunny day for riding along the canal and the Loire. Our first stop was the canal bridge at Guétin
Then we took a detour to the round lock at Apremont-sur-Allier.(one of only two in France)
We stopped for lunch at an Irish pub in La Charité-sur-Loire that didn't have any Guinness, but the meals were very nice. We made it to our nights campground at Saint Satur at around 3pm, set up the tent and headed off up to Sancerre. We stoped at the supermarket to buy some of the local produce, Crottin de Chavignol and some Pinot noir plus other things for dinner then headed up the 318 metres in altitude to Sancerre to have dinner with a view.
We headed back down to Saint Satur via the viaduct which had good views over the town.
Feeling very tired but happy and satisfied after a 72km day cycling carrying about 15kg in weight.
