Thursday 10th July, Amboise

Rest day today. We slept in till late and set off to view inside the Chateâu Royal Amboise around 11am. It had spectacular views over the Loire and the town of Amboise and was very windy.
After our chateâu visit we had lunch and wandered around the town. We found a guide for a walking tour and decided to follow it. The tour took us down narrow old lanes and busy pedestrian streets.
The picture above is of the belfry which was located on the medieval rampart. We also passed by buildings from16th century and also an Art Nouveau house from the late 19th century.
It is difficult to see from this picture but the house  on the right of the picture had the ground floor of stone and the 1st floor half timbered and sloping backward. We also noted along this walk as we have in many other towns that many of the shops are closed for a couple of hours in the middle of the day! Just like this one David is posing in front of.
We headed back to the campground around 4pm to relax and get ready for the following days ride.
